This is an amazing find – a one of a kind, rosewood, gold plated Covey oboe. This oboe was specially made for a major symphony player, and then used by a well known performer for a limited amount of time. It is like new.
The classic rosewood tone is light and very colorful. It plays evenly throughout the octaves with excellent intonation.
It arrived here in near mint condition, and other than a little dusting, it needed nothing. It has been played little, and will need to be played with care for the first few weeks, to allow it to reacclimate to being a performance instrument. The tone will expand somewhat, and the color and vibration will grow within a month or two.
The rosewood body is in near mint condition with no cracks. It has lined tone holes for superior longevity.
The full conservatory, full plateau gold plated keywork system is in clean, shiny, like new condition. Light surface texturing is present. It has excellent condition pads throughout.
This oboe features left hand F, F resonance key, low Bb, Bb resonance key, banana key, and both trill keys.
The original hand made Mahogany case is in excellent condition. A reed case and screwdriver are included. Its only fault is the lack of a rosewood end cap for the middle joint.
