Description

Condition: Excellent
Suitable for: Everyone

This classic 1960’s oboe was probably made by Marigaux, and sold new as a “stencil” instrument by Bernard Raphael Glaser in Philadelphia in 1967. It is a one owner oboe with almost no playing time on it. It offers a sweet dark quality, focused tone, and very good intonation. It plays evenly throughout the octaves. This will be a great oboe for an aspiring player, adult enthusiast, or professional player with an interest in primarily unplayed 1960’s Marigaux oboes.

Brian Charles has just refurbished and play tested this oboe here in our shop. It has most new pads, many new bumper corks, springs, oiled wood, cleaned and resealed vents, and should need nothing more than regular upkeep for years to come.

The grenadilla wood body is in much better than average condition with very few signs of use. There was a typical small crack on the bell which was professionally repaired some time ago.

The full conservatory, full plateau silver plated keywork system is in very clean, shiny, excellent condition. It was fully removed, cleaned, oiled, refitted, and extensively play tested in March 2019.

This oboe features left hand F, F resonance key, low Bb, Bb resonance key, banana key, split d key, and both trill keys.

The (possibly) original lozenge style hard shell case is in excellent condition with much less than expected wear. A 3 reed case and cork grease cup are included.
