When you slip your finished reed onto the flat horizontal tongue you can easily check if you have similar thickness on both blades.
This highly accurate, German-made brushed aluminum table top unit is accurate to .001 mm. This tool can be a great aid in producing a well-balanced reed.
The tongue is 32 millimeters in length. It is engraved with 7 ruled markings spaced 4 millimeters apart to provide accurate, repeatable measurements of each blade of the bassoon reed.
Great for measuring gouged and shaped bassoon cane for balanced thickness before assembling the reed.
The optional Rieger micrometer case is highly protective and custom made by Rieger to fit the Rieger bassoon dial micrometer. It features a full zipper closure and side handle. The rip stop nylon exterior is substantive and will hold up for many years. Case measures 9.25″x 6″x 3.5″.
The unit is fully adjustable and very stable once set. Overall size is 6 1/2″ x 4″ x 2″.
