Description
This model 4052 oboe was made in 1995. It plays with a rich dark tone and very good intonation. It plays evenly and easily throughout the range.
Brian Charles cleaned, oiled, adjusted, and play-tested this oboe here in our shop and it’s ready for performance.
The grenadilla wood body is in excellent condition with no cracks. There is an area of wear, as shown in the photos. It is surface wear and definitely not a crack. We’ve examined it under magnification just to be sure since it is in an area where some oboes might crack.
The modified conservatory, full plateau silver plated keywork system is in clean, shiny, excellent condition. It has some new pads and excellent condition pads throughout. The octave vents are non-removable to insure the pips (metal pieces) are solidly in place.
This oboe features a 3rd octave key, left hand F, F resonance key, low Bb, Bb resonance key, and both trill keys. What differentiates it from a full conservatory model is the solid key on the right-hand third finger position D key. This makes it a bit easier to play as there is not a hole in the key to cover, and it has no “banana” key.
The original hard shell lozenge style case is in excellent condition.
