Description

This long bore Fox Renard bassoon was made in 1975 and has seen minimal use. A trusted favorite among teachers and students alike, the Renard Artist Model 220 stands out for its consistent, easy response, stability, and rich, even tone.

We recommend this instrument for students, hobbyists, schools, and woodwind doublers. It offers consistent, easy response, stability, and rich, even tone.

Brian Charles has cleaned, oiled, adjusted, and play-tested this bassoon in our shop, ensuring it’s ready for performance. It will be fully play-tested, and adjusted again just before it goes out on trial to you.

Condition:
Body: The original light bordeaux finish is in near-mint condition, a testament to how little this instrument was played. We removed and cleaned the U tube, installed a new gasket, and resealed it to ensure optimal performance. This bassoon is one of the few vintage instruments we’ve had the pleasure to describe as near mint.

Keywork: The German system silver-plated keywork is in near-mint condition, a rarity for vintage instruments. We recently cleaned, oiled, and fully adjusted this bassoon, with most bumper corks replaced, some pads replaced, and others in excellent shape. The minimal use of this instrument is evident in the pristine keywork, making it one of the few 1970’s bassoons we’ve ever described as near mint.

Features:

  • Metal tone hole water tube inserts
  • Lined wing and small boot bore
  • Body lock
  • High d key
  • Crutch and assembly

  • Right hand whisper key lock

Bocals:
The original Fox C#1 and C#2 bocals are in excellent condition.

Case:
The original hard shell case is in excellent condition, showing only minor signs of wear. The original fitted vinyl case cover is also in very good condition, with some wear, but the zippers and snaps are in excellent working order.
