This classic long bore maple Fox 220 bassoon was made in 1981 but it appears to be no more than a year or two old. It’s in gorgeous condition and plays with unmatched sonority. It has been cared for by Paul Nordby, and handled with great care and love throughout its life.
Brian went over it from head to toe but there was nothing to do! It is clean, oiled, polished, and the pads are in excellent condition. This will be perfect for advanced students, doublers, adult enthusiasts, and some pro players.
The maple wood body, keys, and finish are in excellent plus condition with limited wear. The original finish is a warm golden brown, and retains all the clarity it had when new.
The silver plated keywork is immaculately clean and shiny with very limited signs of use.
This bassoon features the full standard setup for a Fox 220, German system silver plated keywork, including French (metal) bell ring, lined wing and small bore of the boot joint, in-line body lock, nickel silver water tubes, rollers for right little finger F and A♭, left little finger E♭ and D♭, right thumb B♭ and F♯, right hand whisper key lock, and high D and high E keys.
The three silver Fox bocals are included: a *CVX* #2, and a C2 and C1, all in excellent condition. The C2 has slight finish wear.
The Fox pro hard shell case is in excellent condition. The fitted cover is in very good condition and has some wear.
