Description
Condition: Excellent

This is Fox’s rare top-of-the-line plastic instrument which was made for a short while and is now discontinued. There were only 200 made. It has the same keywork as the Fox pro 201 but with a fully plastic body.
This instrument was made in 1972 and purportedly owned by and played by Sherman Walt on his tour of Japan with the Boston Symphony. We can’t verify that information, but the age, and quality are well within bounds for this to have been Mr. Walt’s instrument. It was purchased shortly thereafter by its current owner, who has owned it ever since. It has a beautiful, colorful tone throughout the registers.
Brian Charles just cleaned, oiled, adjusted, and play-tested this bassoon here in our shop and it’s ready to play in every way. This is a pro-level instrument at a gentle price and would work well for outdoor players, students, doublers, and enthusiasts.
The plastic body is in very good condition with average signs of use.
The German system silver-plated keywork system has just been cleaned and oiled. It has the expected light pitting in many spots. Fox bassoons from this era often have this characteristic. It has good condition pads throughout.
This bassoon features the full Fox 201 system including high D and high E, right hand whisper keylock, plastic bell ring (which offsets the black body nicely), crutch and crutch assembly, and 4 rollers.
The included Heckel B2 bocal is in solid, repaired condition. It has a significant patch and some dents and dings. The ProTec integral case is in near-mint condition. A boot strap is also included.
