This contra bassoon was made in 1976, well cared for, and played professionally. It was fully and beautifully restored by Sabrina Walch in NYC very recently. Quoting Sabrina: “A lot of love (and work) went into that horn”, and it shows.
Brian Charles just dusted and play tested this contra bassoon here in our shop and it’s ready to play in every way. This is a pro instrument fully ready for performance.
The maple wood body is in excellent condition. Slight dings here and there as shown in the photos. Far fewer than would be expected.
The German system silver plated keywork system is fully intact with excellent polished shine. Excellent condition pads and bumpers throughout.
This contra bassoon features some Fox factory built options including: alternate top vent spatula; E/F# trill; water key; and rollers on the right thumb B♭ & F#, and low E♭/D♭.
The #1 and #2 original silver Fox bocals are in excellent condition. A hard ROKO bocal case is included. A brand new Altieri gig bag is included. A very substantial heavy duty contra stand is included.
