This fine upper level oboe was made in Westchester, NY, in approximately 1990. It projects well and has a nice dark tone. It plays evenly throughout the octaves with an especially rich and resonant upper register.

Gordet oboes come in three types. This is the Malerne model with “made in France” stamped on it. It started its life in France at the Malerne factory and was hand finished and regulated by the Gordet company.

Brian Charles cleaned, oiled, adjusted, and play-tested this oboe here in our shop and it’s ready to play in every way. This is a perfect wood upgrade for an advancing student or enthusiast. Many pro players use this type of oboe in Broadway pit orchestras for its easy projection and dense tone.

The grenadilla wood body is in excellent condition. The two small exterior cracks have been professionally repaired. Photos of the repairs are under the main photo.

The full conservatory, full plateau silver plated keywork system is in clean, shiny condition. The left pinky low B key has classic plating wear. We buffed and cleaned that area and it should be stable for years to come. It has some new pads and very good condition pads throughout.

This oboe features 3rd octave key, left hand F, F resonance key, low Bb, banana key, split D, and both trill keys.

The original hard shell case is in excellent condition with much less than expected wear. The locks and handle and hinges are in excellent condition.
