This Heckel bassoon was made in 1964 and played professionally. It’s had regular maintenance and been used in performance until recently. It has not been abused or added to. The sound is magnificent.

We just cleaned, oiled, adjusted, and play tested this bassoon here in our shop and it’s ready to play in every way. This is a premiere bassoon suited for top level performance.

The maple wood body is in excellent condition with no boot rot, and no tone hole issues. The finish is original and in excellent condition. The bell ring is metal, doing away with the problem of travelling with an ivory ring.

The German system silver plated keywork system has just been cleaned and oiled. It’s in fine performance level condition, with average pad wear. This instrument was taken care of through the years by renowned bassoon tech Paul Norby.

This bassoon features metal tone hole inserts, lined wing joint, lined small bore on boot, and body lock.  It has high D and high E, 9 rollers, and a right hand whisper key lock.

Original Heckel bocals # C2 and #C1. The C1 has plating wear as seen in the photos.

The upright backpack style integral case is in worn but serviceable condition. The exterior pocket zipper is broken.
