This Heckel bassoon was made in 1930 and professionally maintained over the years. It has been played most recently by a dedicated adult enthusiast. It is the “Jubilee” model which celebrated Heckels’ 100th year in business.
We just cleaned, oiled, adjusted, and play tested this bassoon here in our shop and it’s ready to play in every way.
The maple body is in very good condition with no boot rot, and no tone hole issues. The original finish appears to have been touched up over the years. It has a bone bell ring, not ivory, making it possible to travel with this bassoon across international borders. It has no water tubes.
The German system silver plated keywork system has just been cleaned and oiled. High D was added at some point in the distant past, and it has a left hand whisper key lock. It has no body lock. It has some new pads and very good condition pads throughout.
The one roller on the right pinky appears to be original.
