This Loree from 1967 is right in the sweet spot. Sought after “B” series oboes in excellent, low mileage condition are rare to find. This oboe, in particular, has an even quality throughout the octaves with especially rich and resonant tone color throughout.
Brian Charles overhauled this oboe last year, and has just cleaned, oiled, adjusted, and play-tested it again. There are more than a few pro players who might want to try out this one.
The grenadilla wood body is in excellent condition with no cracks. A few minor scuffs as would be expected. There is small chip on the lower end of the bell, under the bell ring. You can see this in the photos quite well. It is of little importance.
The full conservatory, full plateau silver plated keywork system is in clean, shiny, excellent condition. Fewer than expected signs of wear, commensurate with the low playing hours evident on this oboe. All new pads, bumpers, corks this year.
This oboe features left hand F, F resonance key, low Bb, Bb resonance key, banana key, and both trill keys.
The original Loree lozenge hard shell case is in very good condition with small dents and bumps on the exterior, and the usual interior wear as would be expected. The original pleather cover is in good but worn condition.
