Made in 1973, during the heyday of Polisi bassoons, this is a fine example of a well equipped pro level instrument. William “Papa” Polisi handled the instruments and was principal bassoonist of the New York Philharmonic. His young son Joe helped out and went on to a career as a pro bassoonist and then president of the Juilliard School. There’s a solid heritage.

We just play tested this bassoon here in our shop and it’s ready to play in every way. This instrument will work well for students, doublers, and adult enthusiasts.

The maple wood body is in very good condition with no boot rot, and no tone hole issues. The jet black finish from Polisi has been beautifully refinished and restored.

The German system, nickel silver plated keywork has been replated and is in great condition. It has some new pads and very good condition pads throughout.

This bassoon features plastic tone hole inserts, lined wing joint, lined small bore on boot, metal bell ring (which offsets the black body nicely), body lock, crutch and crutch assembly. It has high D and high E, 10 rollers, and a right hand whisper key lock.

Both the Fox CVX #2 and Fox CVX #3 bocal are in excellent condition. The classic hard shell case and fitted case cover are in very good condition.
