This Puchner bassoon was made in 1970 (est.) and plays with the depth and warmth associated with Puchner bassoons. A note from the owner: “she will speak through an orchestra when needed and blend well with other woodwinds.” It is an “original” model.
We just cleaned, oiled, adjusted, and play tested this bassoon here in our shop and it’s ready to play. This is an overall very good condition instrument at a reasonable price and would work well for advanced students, doublers, and advanced adult enthusiasts.
The maple wood body is in very good condition with no boot rot. The original finish is in good condition.
The German system silver plated keywork system has just been cleaned and oiled. It has expected wear. There are professionally built key extensions in place which are removable by a repair tech. It has some new pads and very good condition pads throughout.
This bassoon features one tone hole insert, lined wing joint, lined small bore on boot, a body lock, and 2 rollers. It does not have high D or high E.
The Puchner B1 bocal is in very good condition. A second Puchner bocal with some faults is included, and plays a lot better than it looks!
The Kim Walker black leather soft case is older. It’s protective but somewhat loose inside.
