Description
Condition: Used
Suitable for: Most Players
This rare used A=440 model H.A. Vas Dias baroque oboe has an Eichentopf exterior and a Vas Dias A=440 bore. Mr. Vas Dias is now in his late 90’s (and going strong). How many more of these will be made? We don’t know.
The body is stunningly beautiful Boxwood finished in sweet almond oil. Tenon ends are hand wrapped. The 2 key system is handmade of brass.
This oboe would sell for $2,000. Aesthetically, and physically, the exterior of the instrument is in near mint condition. The interior bore of the bell has acoustic tape applied by Mr. Vas Dias, and a dark stain over-application and drip mark. None of this can not be seen from the exterior. It is entirely stable, and nothing is affected except the aesthetics of the bore in the bell only. The instrument is resonant, in tune, and plays easily. Please see the photos for further reference.
A handmade Vas Dias reed, fingering chart, information/care page and plush drawstring bag are included.
