Every instrument listed as Certified has been personally inspected, cleaned, adjusted, and play-tested in our shop before it is offered to a potential buyer. This preparation helps ensure the instrument is functioning properly and allows the player to evaluate its response and condition with confidence. Our goal is for every instrument to arrive ready to play and honestly represented.
All certifications are performed in-house by Brian Charles, the owner of Charles Double Reed Company, a double reed specialist with more than 40 years of experience working with oboes and bassoons.

This may include multiple adjustments, pad work, cork replacement, regulation improvements, and other repairs necessary to improve reliability and performance. The specific work performed will be described in the instrument listing.
Full overhauls or restorations are noted separately when applicable.
