Heckel 6201

$26,500
Heckel #6201 comes from the collection of noted scholar and collector, Richard Murry. It was made in 1925. It’s an exceptional instrument updated and kept in excellent condition. Last year the G trill (frequently called a high E key) and the high d vent key were added by Jimmy Keyes. He also went over all the pads getting it completely sealed up. The wood is completely sealed for maximum response and dynamic range. It has no rollers on any keys but is set up for easy finger action without the extra width needed by rollers. When the high D was added the high C key had to be modified to fit over the tube of the high D. Both those keys and the high E were sent to Anderson plating to be plated in nickel silver by Jimmy Keyes. The whisper key lock is a unique Heckel design allowing the closing of the whisper key without closing the pancake key. Brian Charles has cleaned, oiled, adjusted, and play-tested this bassoon in our shop, ensuring it’s ready for performance. It will be fully play-tested, and adjusted again just before it goes out on trial to you.
