This pre-owned Howarth XL model was made in 2008 and is the top of their line. Lined top joint. Large bore, thick wall model for a dark, focused tone with solid intonation – a joy to play. Personally cleaned, oiled, adjusted, and play-tested by Brian Charles in our Kingston workshop, this oboe is fully prepared for performance. It will be play-tested and carefully adjusted once more just prior to shipment for trial, ensuring it arrives in optimal condition.

Condition

Body

The grenadilla wood body has a lined top joint and is in excellent overall condition, showing much less than expected wear. No cracks, and with the liner, very little chance of cracking in the future.

Keywork

The full conservatory, full plateau silver-plated keywork is clean, bright, and in excellent mechanical condition. The instrument has been fully adjusted, bore oiled, key oiled, and carefully play-tested.
