Did you fall in love with the oboe or bassoon as I did? My double reed musician story began in junior high school. From that moment on, music became a part of who I am—not just something I do, but something I live.
I am a performing musician, and playing has always felt natural to me. As a young conservatory student, I worked part-time during the day, as many musicians do at that stage. During that time, I had the opportunity to work at a double reed shop in New York City.
Eventually, the owner retired, and I was given the chance to continue the business. I moved everything into my small apartment in Brooklyn and began building something of my own.
Over time, I realized that teaching, supplying, and supporting other musicians was just as meaningful as performing. That realization shaped my path and ultimately led to the creation of Charles Double Reed Company.
This double reed musician’s story is still evolving, and music continues to guide it every day.
