This clear shrink tubing is great for bassoon reed making in place of, or in addition to thread wrapping or glue. It will also securely hold your English horn or oboe d’Amore reed to its bocal.
We offer this clear, uncolored version for transparency. Being able to see under the tubing allows for expanded control of the staple/bocal relationship.
To use it on English horn, just cut a 1″ piece with a knife or scissor, slip it over the bottom of the staple, overlap it onto the bocal and then gently heat it. You only have to do this once, and then you can count on a slip-free, leak proof fit.
For bassoon reeds, cut an appropriately sized piece, slip it over the thread, and heat gently. This 20″ long piece will last for twenty reeds. Instructions are included.
