We’re honored to feature Hart Reeds on our website. Joseph Hartman has many years of experience as a bassoon reed maker.
As a professional orchestral bassoonist for symphony, chamber orchestra and small chamber pieces, his reed making style has developed over the years to meet the demands of orchestral playing as a principal bassoonist and second bassoonist. He has performed with Oregon Symphony, Eugene Symphony, Oregon Mozart Players, Eugene Concert Choir, Newport Symphony, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and other orchestras.
In addition to performing and reed making, he also gives bassoon lessons to interested students. He has a Bachelor of
Music in Bassoon Performance from the University of Oregon and a Master of Music in Bassoon Performance from the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University, Bloomington. He enjoys hiking outdoors in Oregon.
