Opportunities to acquire an earlier Heckel contrabassoon in excellent, professionally maintained condition are increasingly uncommon. This instrument, serial number 449 made in 1932, represents a period of Heckel production valued for its depth, stability, and characteristic tonal core. Previously owned and played by a professional, it has been carefully maintained throughout its life and is currently in excellent playing condition. The instrument offers a strong, secure response across the range, with a well-centered tone and reliable intonation. It speaks easily while maintaining the weight and presence expected of a Heckel contrabassoon, making it well suited to orchestral performance at a high level.
