Howarth Model S1 #1230 Thumbplate System

A fully restored, classic British oboe made in the 1960’s. It went to the Howarth workshop in London in 2017 for a complete overhaul and update. It’s a “thumb plate” model popular in Europe. The key system is different than the “full conservatory, full plateau” American system. This instrument will be of interest to those who are used to this system, or interested in trying something new. It is not recommended for beginners or students who are not accustomed to this system.

Condition

The grenadilla wood body is in excellent condition with no cracks
The thumb plate, open hole system has been cleaned, oiled, and fully adjusted. This instrument is an excellent example of the thumb plate system widely used in the EU. This is not a standard full conservatory, full plateau model used in the US.
