We use these high quality, unblemished cork sheets in our repair shop. They’re supple and very clear of defects, making them particularly good for oboe and bassoon repair.
Make tenon corks, bocal corks, and thumb rest pads with this thickness. Also works well for general repair use. Simply sand to thin the cork once applied.
We recommend applying cork with standard contact cement. Cut the cork to size first, moisten both the cork and the surface lightly with the glue. Allow the glue to dry for a few minutes until it’s not tacky. Apply the cork.
Tenons are a bit trickier. If you’re doing tenons, cut enough to wrap all the way around plus about 1/4 turn. Cut one edge at an angle, so that you can overlap the opposing side, and apply glue as above. Give us a call for more detailed info and some cool tricks.
