Description

This supple, thin natural material is a traditional product used for sealing leaky reeds. It allows double reed players to efficiently wrap something around the area just above the string wrapping to seal the most common reed leaks.

Is it made out of fish? No, it’s not. Is it usable by vegans? No, it’s not. Vegans can comfortably use our Teflon tape or Parafilm tape instead. Why is it called fishkin? We honestly don’t know. We just like the way it works.

Also known as ‘goldbeater’s skin’, it is used by jewelry makers as a protective sheet when pounding out gold to an ultra thin sheet. Its high strength, thinness, and durability allows them to work the gold into a sheet without actually hitting the gold directly.

The large sheet of fishkin measures approximately 5″x 8″.

The extra large sheet measures approximately 8″x10″
