Description
During the 1960s’ the Amati company of Czechoslovakia acquired the Riedl name and produced some fine instruments such as this one. This contra bassoon was made in the 1960’s and kept in good condition throughout. It has a fine and even tone throughout the instrument. It’s an especially warm and resonant sounding instrument.
Brian Charles has cleaned, oiled, adjusted, and play-tested this contra bassoon in our shop, ensuring it’s ready for performance. It will be fully play-tested, and adjusted again just before it goes out on trial to you.
Condition:
Body:
The maple wood body is in excellent condition with average wear for an instrument of this era. It has no outstanding issues, no boot rot, and no tone hole issues.
Keywork:
The German system silver plated keywork system is clean, oiled, and fully adjusted. Some pads are new, while the others are in excellent condition.
Bocals:
Two original silver bocals are included. The #2 is in fine condition, the #1 bocal has a bend at the bow as shown in the photos.
Case:
