This brand-new H.A. Vas Dias rosewood and silver baroque oboe is a museum-quality instrument pitched at A=440 for performance in modern pitch ensembles or as a soloist.
The body is stunningly beautiful rosewood, finished in sweet almond oil. The tenon ends are hand wrapped. The key system is handmade of sterling silver.
There are very few of these handmade, museum-quality instruments available. Mr. Vas Dias has just celebrated his 99th birthday. How many more will be made?
This instrument has some irregularities in the surface wood as seen in the accompanying photos. These are not areas of damage but rather anomalies in the wood.
A handmade Vas Dias reed, fingering chart, information/care page, and plush drawstring bag are included.
