Why is the oboe so hard to Learn?
The oboe uses a double reed to produce its distinctive sound. Most players learn to make these reeds which can be quite finicky. With extensive practice, an oboist can learn to control their reed, breath, and mouth position (embouchure) to produce a beautiful and consistent sound. It takes a while – but its worth it!
